Keeping warm

Now that the snow has melted....we are making a few more warmer additions to the house! We have been planning to add a wood burning stove to the house for quite a while now. We just had to save up the money to do it first! Step 1 was to create the best place for it. After much contemplation, we decided the kitchen would be the best place. Even though it's not the center of the house, we could still circulate the warm air from this location, plus we could now buy a wood stove with a cook top.

We needed some type of stone between the stove and
the wall so we decided on brick and we love it!!

Step 2 was actually getting the stove bought, shipped and placed. That was a fun experience. That thing is heavy! But isn't it gorgeous!!! Its not totally ready to use yet though. This summer we will be buying the pipe and having it installed. That's almost as expensive as the stove itself! I can't wait to sit by the flame and cook soup on the top!
Hey guys....no shoes in the house! ;)

Speaking of soup....this is our deer and veggie soup in my new le creuset
cookware I got for Christmas. The deer meat was from our freezer and all the
veggies were from our garden. Not only does it taste great, but it makes all
that work from last summer seem to worth while!!!

And of course my sweet Shelby Ann staying warm by the fire. If there is
a fire going, she knows it and she's as close as possible to it!
