Anniversaries and Kayaks

This year we celebrated our 12th anniversary! What a great year it's been so far. Can't wait to see what the next 12 years have in store.

This picture was taken a week before our anniversary at Chris and Ashley's 4th of July bash.

This year for our anniversary we decided to splurge a little. We've been enjoying our time on the water in our canoe and renting kayaks.....so we decided to bite the bullet and buy new ones for ourselves on the way to the GMHG. That way we could get in a couple of trips while we were already on the road. (I can't believe I didn't take pictures of the new kayaks on top of the car headed out! UGH!) And of course Pop had to buy one too so he could tag along!

Our first trip in the new boats was a LONG one. We took a 16 mile trip down the New River in North Carolina. The Woodsman and I have been down the New River in our canoe before and knew it would be a great trip to take everyone else on. So we took Saturday off from the GMHG and headed out. Laura, Eric, Rodney, Pop, Perry and I all had our own kayaks, but we needed something for Ben and Donna to use so they could join us. Pop had just the solution.....the double ducky inflatable boat.

Little did we know the double ducky, we now lovely refer to as the Devil Boat, had a slight leak in it....oops! Needless to say the occupants of the boat weren't very happy with it! Thankfully I spotted an outfitter along the river about half way into our trip and he agreed to take the Devil Boat back with him and let us rent two kayaks. After everyone had a boat that wasn't slowly sinking, the trip was great. I wish I had more pictures of the trip to share, but they were on a phone that was lost/stolen. :(

After returning from the GMHG, we wanted to take the boats out for another ride. We brought the girls' small blue kayaks so they could join us as well. On the way home we stopped at the Toccoa River and tried out the 6 mile trip. The girls did great, but I think they may be ready for a better boat themselves. I love that they love to kayak as much as we do!
All four of us on the Toccoa. Little Bit likes to take the lead.
They love to be on the water!

Miss Priss finally made her way out front though....

When Little Bit had finally had enough!
She tied herself to Pop's boat and floated along!

Mommy LOVES her new boat!

And she loves kayaking with her girls!

Yes I had to stop and put it on Facebook...

We stopped to get ice cream after a long, hard paddle.
Great day, great trip!!

Officially worn out for the trip home!
