Easter 2012

Easter 2012 came and went unusually fast this year. I think maybe it was just because it was so early. If you are like me, you've always wondered what the deal is with Easter and why its seems so random in timing. Well this year I finally found out.

Easter is held on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring equinox. Whoa that's a mouth full! So we have to wait for three things to happen, 1. the first day of spring 2. the first full moon after the first day of spring and 3. the first Sunday after 1 and 2. That's why the date can range anywhere from the end of March to the middle of April. Ha - well I learned something new and maybe you did too!

Anywho.... we started off the morning with some surprises left by that sneaky little bunny!

The Easter bunny filled Miss Priss's basket with new scrap book materials and Little Bit's basket with magnetic princess dolls. He left an American Girl Doll closet for both of them to share.

Then we headed to D's for a while to visit and snap a few pictures with Henry the bunny.

But where they would rather be is climbing in the trees!

Random crazy picture of Little Bit. She's a nut I tell ya!

Next I just had to snap some pictures of the girls in the beautiful flowers Papaw left growing for them. They've made trails through the flowers and love to run and play in them!

Then it was off to Mimi's for a delicious lunch and of course the annual Easter Egg Hunt!

Later that afternoon we headed back to our house were we built a fire, ate a boston butt (yummy - thanks again to Papa Jim for his awesome bbq-ing!), fished and sat around the fire to enjoy each others company.  Pop, Nonna, Uncle Jay, Granny T, Papa Jim, Papaw, D and Uncle Brian all stopped by to enjoy the beautiful weather and company.

Uncle Brian was brave enough to let Miss Priss drive him around to different fishing spots on the creek!

Yep, the only picture of me from the day! See I was there!!!

They just couldn't stand the idea of going to the creek and not getting in!

In order to pry them away from the water, I bribed them by telling them they could practice using their new knives we got them for Christmas. Now this was a big hit. They are not allowed to even touch the knives without one of us around, let alone actually use them. We meant to take them with us on our camping trip, but we forgot! Oops! So really this was the first time they'd gotten to use them.
They were both so serious and were concentrating so hard on getting it right!

So happy and excited to show off their knives and actually get to use them!

Everyone enjoying the good food and great company!

Happy Easter 2012!

The Woodsman

Lately,  I have been thinking about a "nickname" for the hubby on the blog. It was really bothering me because I couldn't think of anything that really fit him and wasn't so cheesey he wouldn't like it. We can't all be creative like Holly Hudson with her storm and all their cuteness! ;)

So this weekend while taking pictures of my husband's new hobby, it came to me. So (drum roll please) I now introduce you to my husband -
The Woodsman.

More to come soon of his latest hobby and all the cool things he been making! Sweet!

Ballet Beauties

Its getting close to recital time so we had group ballet pictures this week!
I took these as we were waiting for Little Bit's last group picture. They are just too cute!

 Pretty, pretty ballerina.

 ROAR!

 Smile for Mommy!

Girl Scouts - Teddy Bear Tea Party 2012

This Spring Miss Priss decided she wanted to join the Girl Scouts. A couple of her friends at school were talking about how much fun they have and Miss Priss had to find out what it was all about. She and I visited the troop in February and quickly decided it would be a lot of fun. Thankfully they only meet once a month, so it doesn't take a lot of our time and they have other fun activities through out the year.

One of those activities is the Teddy Bear Tea Party. Each girl dressed in their Sunday best and brought their favorite stuffed animal friend. They learned about manners, table etiquette and had a great little snack.

The best part according to Miss Priss was the door prize. Every table had one chair with a star sticker on the underside of it. The girl sitting in that chair would be the proud new owner of the mini tea set in the center of the table. Low-and-behold Miss Priss was actually in that chair. You've got to understand, we are not exactly lucky people when it comes to winning things like this so we were all shocked!

The cat Miss Priss brought drinking her tea.

All the girls from our troop that attended along with scout master Mrs. Valerie.

So far we are really enjoying girl scouts!

Happy St. Patty's day!

Oops! I was suppose to hit post on this one a few days ago and somehow it didn't happen! Here are the girls on St. Patty's day all dressed in green helping me get ready for a a photo shoot.

May your blessings outnumber
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.

Happy St. Patty's day!!!
