Around the house in August

We are really starting to settle into the new house now and Emily has been itching to bake. She's my artsy baker with so much talent. It tastes as good as it looks!

Matt and Tiff sent Emily this cookbook last year and she's been so excited to use it. These honey cakes have become regulars in our house.

This boy loves some fishing. Now if he can just catch one!

He finally got that tool belt! Thanks Aunt Laura. It's perfect.

Playing in the small creek between the shop and the field.

Kousa berries from our Kousa Dogwood tree in the field. Abby is planning to make some jelly or jam from these soon.

Just because she's so cute.

She loves to just hang out with us wherever we are.

Enjoying the wonderful mountain air with the windows down.

Gotta have more room for firewood. This should hold us over for a little while.

Time to learn some plumbing!

Perry and Benjamin replaced the sink downstairs in the basement with a professional grade sink Pop and Nonna bought us a few years ago. We used it outside in the garden area to wash off and cut veggies. It fits just perfectly in its new home with the new base Perry just built and stained.

He was a huge helper and learned so much!

Firewood shed is coming along!
Emily loves to fish too!
He could stay here all day everyday.

Hanging out on the porch before breakfast.
He wasn't quite ready to be up and going yet.

Snapping green beans from D's house.

The cute little hidden bridge over the creek.

Perry is working to clear this out a little more so the kids have a place to splash around.

She wants to catch another fish like she did at the outfitter.

Benjamin FINALLY catches his first fish!!

That things was HUGE!

He was quite excited.

Just a little spoiled.

We brought the round swing D gave them from the outfitter and they've already found the perfect place for it.

Looking from Philip's Creek back towards the house.
Of course we had to bring the grill down and enjoy this mountain summer weather!

Playing in Philip's Creek.

He loves some waterfalls.

Rock tower queen!

Playing at the NOC. We made a few trips there just to sit and enjoy.

Drawing the pond and peer. Another talented girl!!

We've gotten quite a few short summer showers and these two love to run right out in them.

Hallelujah, the girls have new bunkbeds!
And they had to put them together themselves.

They are very thankful that Laura and D splurged on them for these new loft/desk bunkbeds. This will give them so much more room and it will help to keep their areas a little cleaner.

They did a great job reading the instructions and installing these all by themselves. They are very happy with how their room is changing and getting better. More improvements to come!

We traveled back to Alabama several times from August through October for Perry to continue cutting and trimming at Acme. We all decided to join him and stayed at Mamaleta's each time. She loved it, the kids loved it, we all loved it. We would come down for two nights at a time every other week. It got to be a little tiring by the end, but so glad we were able to spend a lot of time with family and make it feel like we weren't just cutting and running to never be seen again.

Abby would sleep in the back bedroom on a full size bed with a little one on each side.

And Emily gladly took the couch.

Poor little thing falls asleep every time he gets in the car and his head just flops over. Emily fixed him right up and made sure his little neck didn't hurt when he woke up.

Sneaky little Scully.

So proud of himself for climbing up the rocks at the NOC.

She thought if she moved over to the bank she'd have better luck catching a fish.
