Blizzard 2011 Day 1:
We finally decided to venture out on Monday around 3:00 in the afternoon. I tried to explain to the girls that it wouldn't be as fun as last year's snow because we got mostly sleet this go round, but they didn't care! They were determined to set foot in that white stuff!
Shelby's footprints. She ventured down one step and was NOT going any further! I had to carry her down the rest of the steps! After I cleared the steps she finally agreed to go down them!
We decided it would be fun to take the golf cart out to see everything. We even ventured up the road too! There weren't any cars out and the girls had a blast!
Of course we had to make a few snowballs!
Heading back in! Everyone was more than ready!
Day 2:
What's a blizzard without an snowiceman?
Then of course we had to let Elsie out to play!
All kids need dogs in my opinion! She loves them and they love her. It's a great bond!
Shelby finally ventured out on the snow/ice, but she didn't like it! She was slipping and sliding everywhere!
More playing in the snow/ice!
She was determined to eat some of this white stuff!
Okay Mom hurry and and take the picture, we are freezing and ready to go in!
Trying to stay warm while Mom takes our picture AGAIN!
Day 3:
Okay, by Wednesday we had all had quite enough of this snow ice stuff! School was still out for the girls, but mommy was suppose to go into her school on a 2 hour delay. The girls and I got up and got ready, headed out, got to the iced over bridge and came right back home. There was no way I was going to be able to safely get to work! So I called in to let my school know and we spent yet another day at home. Don't get me wrong I love being at home, but we were getting cabin fever!
Day 4:
Finally made it to work on day 4! My normal route includes a curvy, shaded, two lane back road and I just wasn't ready for that. So, I traveled the interstate all the way around the world, but I made it there. To top things off, when I got to work it looked like it hadn't even snowed! Guess that's what happens when you live out in the boonies!
The girls were still out of school, so they got to spend the day at Pop and Nonna's. They sure weren't sad about that.
Day 5:
Yes that is correct, day 5 of ice in Alabama.....it's just unheard of! We are finally getting back to normal. The girls had to go to school today (on a 2 hour delay). Ice is starting to melt and the white stuff is SLOWLY disappearing. Tomorrow's high is in the 50's so things should really be getting back to normal now. That's just crazy Alabama weather for ya! And they say it's not over with yet!
