Military Days at the Zoo

Three times a year the Birmingham Zoo invites all members of the military and their families to visit the Zoo for free. This past Memorial Day weekend was one of those times. So we decided to take advantage of the opportunity. Why not, right!?!

Mommy and her girls at the zoo.

Running to see the monkeys

Every time we have been to the zoo, the Anteater is always gone.
We finally got to see him this time and wow were we surprised!
He's a very large, odd lookin guy for sure!!

This was the scene for the day. All three kids with their faces
and hands pressed against the glass trying to get a peek at
whatever poor animal was behind it.
This happens to be the glass of the Orangutans.

Getting ready to ride the train. Check out that cool new
camera lense and bag!!

Can't go to the zoo without riding the train.

Daddy and Little Bit looking at those very strange pigs again.

Little Bit and the lions. (Little did we know that Miss Priss was
about a foot away from stepping on a copperhead at this point.
She kept saying "It got loose...it got out of his cage!!!" - As though
they don't live in the wild! Too cute. Except for almost
stepping on the snake of course!)

Posing for mom - AGAIN!!

Yea! The butterfly exhibit is once again open. It's one of my favs!

The crew (with the exception of the photographer of course)
Papaw, Drew, Laura, Daddy, D, Little Bit and Miss Priss.
