This year we made it to the Fiddler's Green for the re-enactment. Last year the rain kept us away and we were only able to go to the dance. We are so glad we made the trip and enjoyed seeing all the sites. They really put on an amazing show! This is sure to be an annual event for the Hay Clan.
The field before the battle.
One of the many cabins they have restored and moved to the property.
They mostly used it for the re-enactors to hang out in, but the public was
able to view the inside as well.
D and the girls all dressed for the occasion.
A few of the many beautiful flags of the day.
The couple built a replica of a Civil War Era home. It was modeled
off a home that was in the area at the time.
And the battle begins:
The battle ended with the burning of the cute little white house in
the yard. We were amazed that they actually burned it, but apparently
they build a new one just for this event every year. It really added to the show.
Just beautiful!
My civil war girls.
So sweet and innocent!
Bless her sweet, cute little heart.
If you look closely, you'll see that Little Bit here is missing a few eyebrow hairs. With strips of duct tape, she decided, after seeing Mommy and Big Sis get their eyebrows waxed, that she also needed hers "trimmed". After what I can only imagine being a very painful experience, Little Bit walked into the living room as though nothing had ever happened. Daddy noticed something was a little different, but couldn't quite put his finger on it. After closer examination, we quickly discovered the issue. She denied any changes until we got out the mirror. With a rather pitiful confession and a few pictures later, she vowed to never duct tape her eyebrows again!
