Papa Perry turns 90

This year was a big birthday year for lots of people. We have a new teenager (Abby), new double digits (Emily), new one year old (EC) and now Papa Perry is turning 90. We celebrated at Beulah Baptist Church with family from all over. Guests were: Me, my girls, Perry, Laura, Drew, D, Papaw, David, Cindy, Brandon, Poochie, John, Billy, Jennifer, Gracie, Ruthie, John Henry, Lee, Bob, Dylan, Dalton, Mamaleta and of course the birthday boy himself.

Poochie and her granddaughters planned a  special surprise. They girls played the Tennessee Waltz and Poochie talked Mamaleta and Papa Perry into dancing. They all had a blast and everyone else enjoyed the show!

Again EC has a special way with bond with Papa Perry. She talked him into letting her sit with him and letting her eat his cake. I love these special little moments caught on camera.

Homeschooling - 5th and 8th grade

This year we made the leap and decided to homeschool. I am so excited to have the girls at home and learning on our terms. I took a job with Talladega City Schools for this one year while the begin the process, but I plan to be home with them starting next year. This counts as their first day pictures for this year. Abby's first day of 8th grade and Emily's first day of 5th. So far they are really enjoying being at home. They miss their friends, but they are loving the new schedule. Abby is drinking her coffee while studying and Emily is working on the microscope for a science experiment.

Even though we decided to homeschool this year, Abby was able to run with the SHS XC team because of the Tim Tebow law. She loved every minute of practice, meets and 5k runs. Her PR for a 5k was 23:34. She won 2nd place at the SHS Tiger Pride 5k and won 1st place in the costume contest. She was also able to talk Emily into running the 1 mile fun run. Emily came in 3rd place! Maybe we have another runner in the family!

Music lessons 2016

This year Abby traded in her fiddle for a larger version and is learning to play the cello. No fear on the part of the fiddle though as Emily quickly picked it up! Trussville Conservatory here we come!
