Piano Recital

Miss Priss is really doing well with her piano lessons. She loves to practice and I love listening to her get better and better. Here she is at this year's end of the year recital. Her song was called the Ladybug Waltz. We were all so proud of her for memorizing her song and playing with both hands. Looking forward to hearing her get better and better as she continues to take lessons.

Miss Priss's piano teacher is also a voice teacher. At the beginning and end of the recital, all the students sing together (even the piano students). Miss Priss loves this! She always does such a wonderful job singing as well!

Hays Cemetery Decoration 2012

I can't believe it's been a whole year since the last time we made the trip to the Hays Cemetery. We thought we were going to walk around the cemetery and get soaked, but thankfully by the time we arrived the rain had stopped. In fact (besides being WAY to hot for May) it turned out to be a nice day.

Papa Perry telling The Woodsman about the good ole days when he grew up in this area.

Stanwick Hays - the oldest grave and the man responsible for all the Hay Clan buried here.

Little Bit was a little bored!

 All the guys.

 The whole crew.
Me, The Woodsman, Papa Perry, Mimi, D, Papaw, Laura, Brian, Courtney, Little Bit, Miss Priss, Drew and Gracie

 Miss Priss and Little Bit.

 Drew and Gracie.

 All 4 little munchkins.

After walking around and eating a fabulous lunch at Top Hat BBQ, we ventured over to Sulphur Springs for a little hiking. A very long time ago, there was a resort here for people to visit the springs and use their healing powers. The resort is gone, but the sulphur and rotten egg smell sure aren't.

Papa telling the kids to jump across.

 Adventure bound!

Here is one of the holes the resort put in one of the springs.

They all had a blast venturing around the springs and the woods.

Daddy and his girls. The tree they were standing in front of was HUGE!!

Playing in the mud

Last weekend after helping me with a photo shoot, the girls asked if they could go play in the sprinkler. Not thinking about the sprinkler being in the garden I said SURE! Here is what I found about 10 minutes later:

Those crazy nuts made a mud hole and decided to take a mud bath! Of course they loved every minute of it. And who can get mad at those sweet little dirty faces?

Easter 2012

Easter 2012 came and went unusually fast this year. I think maybe it was just because it was so early. If you are like me, you've always wondered what the deal is with Easter and why its seems so random in timing. Well this year I finally found out.

Easter is held on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring equinox. Whoa that's a mouth full! So we have to wait for three things to happen, 1. the first day of spring 2. the first full moon after the first day of spring and 3. the first Sunday after 1 and 2. That's why the date can range anywhere from the end of March to the middle of April. Ha - well I learned something new and maybe you did too!

Anywho.... we started off the morning with some surprises left by that sneaky little bunny!

The Easter bunny filled Miss Priss's basket with new scrap book materials and Little Bit's basket with magnetic princess dolls. He left an American Girl Doll closet for both of them to share.

Then we headed to D's for a while to visit and snap a few pictures with Henry the bunny.

But where they would rather be is climbing in the trees!

Random crazy picture of Little Bit. She's a nut I tell ya!

Next I just had to snap some pictures of the girls in the beautiful flowers Papaw left growing for them. They've made trails through the flowers and love to run and play in them!

Then it was off to Mimi's for a delicious lunch and of course the annual Easter Egg Hunt!

Later that afternoon we headed back to our house were we built a fire, ate a boston butt (yummy - thanks again to Papa Jim for his awesome bbq-ing!), fished and sat around the fire to enjoy each others company.  Pop, Nonna, Uncle Jay, Granny T, Papa Jim, Papaw, D and Uncle Brian all stopped by to enjoy the beautiful weather and company.

Uncle Brian was brave enough to let Miss Priss drive him around to different fishing spots on the creek!

Yep, the only picture of me from the day! See I was there!!!

They just couldn't stand the idea of going to the creek and not getting in!

In order to pry them away from the water, I bribed them by telling them they could practice using their new knives we got them for Christmas. Now this was a big hit. They are not allowed to even touch the knives without one of us around, let alone actually use them. We meant to take them with us on our camping trip, but we forgot! Oops! So really this was the first time they'd gotten to use them.
They were both so serious and were concentrating so hard on getting it right!

So happy and excited to show off their knives and actually get to use them!

Everyone enjoying the good food and great company!

Happy Easter 2012!
