Feasting Hall Kitchen

Drum roll please....... it's ready to be put to use! The floor is complete, the rocks around the stove are in place and the gridle is ready to cook. It turned out so cute and functional. Don and Pattie gave us the door for the front and it just added the perfect finishing touch. They've been carrying the door around for 40 years and felt they had finally found the perfect place for it. Perry got it all cleaned up and painted and it looks just wonderful. Now to have a few starter fires and we'll be ready to put it to use!

Herb Class

Getting everything ready this night before class. It looks so good, especially with the twinkle cafe lights. Look at all that corn from the second and third picking!

Wine making class. Abby's specialty! She's been teaching this topic for the herb conference for a coupld of years now.

Our Highland Herbalist!

And then they stole my phone!

What on earth!?!

The cool kids that hang out after class.

What a beautiful evening! Fall is in the air!

This girl and her selfies. She loves to steal my phone and see how many pictures she can take!

Around the house in August

Amanda, Lesa and I made a girls rip to bread beckers to buy some wheat berries. We had a great time hanging out the whole day. I'm so glad Lesa thought to take a picture of the three of us. I love my ladies!

And Hoogie loves Marnay!

The perfect small tent for her room. And so girlie!

He couldn't wait to get outside with his new survival book and tool. He an outdoor boy for sure!

School year begins

Another year of learning is underway. We are back with our homeschool co-op again this year. The kiddos have some great classes that I know they will enjoy. Of course, getting to see friends is the best part of the whole day though!

Big third grader!

And a first-grader dude!

Woah! She's a senior! Time is flyin'!

Learning about watersheds and how water naturally flows.

Marnay came to school one day and taught about herbs and took the kids on an herb walk. The kids and the moms loved it.

Kids market day again. This time Ella Claire and Keira wanted to have a table together. They made lots of sales. EC and Benjamin took all their earnings and bought lots of good snacks at the herb store again!

Farm and Garden

Corn for days! We will have some to feed the animals, some to mill for cornbread and some to use to plant again next year. It was a great year for corn!

Some friends shared some noodle beans with us this year and I fell in love with them! Not only are they pretty but look at how much food that is! I also love the texture and taste of these guys. They look kind of like noodles, but they actually have a similar texture as well. The friends brought seeds to us too so we can plant them next year!

Herb Class

The classes just keep getting better and better. This month was hot, but we still had the faithful students that wouldn't miss it for the world. This is the perfect space for such classes and it's so much fun to watch Abby and mingle with these lovely people.

This month Eric brought her a microphone to try out. It was okay, but she's still working on just getting louder with her natural voice.

LHG

More ladies homestead. This time I helped present. We had a group of ladies that discussed the different methods of preserving food. We talked about the do's and don'ts, the how to's and a few tips and tricks along the way. Another good night with the ladies.

Feasting Hall Kitchen

The kitchen is coming along nicely! There are a few more rocks on the ground and a lot more rocks on the base. More to go, but I'd say they're half way there.

The oven is an old tank from a hot water heater that Perry salvaged. A buddy of his welded the door and handle on for us. It turned out pretty cool. I can't wait to cook bread in it. There's something so much better about a wood fired stove when it comes to cooking bread!
